Accuracy Plus is the perfect option for swarmer termites control in the Los Angeles area.

What are Swarmer Termites

Termite colonies spread through the adult winged swarmer termite, one of two kinds of reproductive termites for the colony. Even though swarmer termites have wings, they are poor fliers. They emerge from the colonies on colonizing flights during certain seasons of the year. After these flights, a male (king) and a female (queen) will pair up, lose their wings, and construct a small cell in the soil. There they will mate, lay eggs, and rear the first group of workers. Swarmer termites are l most often seen by home or business owners in Los Angeles.

What do Swarmer Termites Look Like

At first glance, swarmer termites look like ants with wings. However, unlike winged ants, swarmer termites have a broader waist, four wings that are all the same shape and size, and straight antennae. They are approximately 3/8 of an inch long. Depending on the species of termite, the body color of swarmer termites can vary from yellow-brown to black. They are usually much darker than the other members of the colony. The wings can be any shade between brown and gray and extend beyond the tip of the abdomen.

Why Swarmer Termites are Dangerous

Because the sight of swarmer termites can indicate a potential termite problem near or in your home, it’s a good idea to educate yourself about the functions that the swarmer termites serve for the colony. The swarmer termites are often the first visible indication termites are present. Left undetected, these swarmer termites reproduce and can cause major structural damage to your business or residence. This can lead to major repairs which cost money and can mean time away from your home or business.
